Astrovirology

Astrovirology is the study of viruses in outer space. Viruses are tiny microbes that can cause disease in the human body. Scientists study astrovirology to find out how viruses could be spread in outer space and if they could harm astronauts. Astrovirology researchers look at how viruses can live and reproduce in environments similar to outer space, like in space shuttles or in outer space itself.
