ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Asynchronous circuit

An asynchronous circuit is a type of electronic circuit where the electrical signals in it don't have to stay in step with each other all the time. In other words, the signals can start, stop, and change at different times. An example of an asynchronous circuit is one that operates a traffic light. The green light will turn on, then the yellow light will turn on, and then the red light will turn on at all different times. This is different from a synchronous circuit which always has to stay in step with each other and all the signals have to start and stop at the same time.
