Athletics record progressions

Hey there little one!

Do you know what athletics is? Athletics is all about sports like running, high jump, shot put, long jump, hurdles, and many other activities.

Now, when someone participates in any of these athletics activities, they try to do their best and get better with each attempt. Sometimes, when they do really well, they break a record. A record is like a previous best score or time that someone has achieved.

When someone breaks a record, it means they have done better than anyone else before them. But, records can be broken again and again. This is called progressions.

Let's take an example of a running race. If someone runs 100 meters in 10 seconds and breaks the previous record of 10.1 seconds, a new record is set. Then someone else comes and runs 100 meters in 9.9 seconds, breaking the previous record of 10 seconds. This becomes a new record, and the progression continues.

Similarly, there are records for other activities in athletics. The constant breaking of records shows how athletes are continuously getting better and pushing their limits to be the best they can be.

So, in summary, athletics record progressions mean that athletes are continually breaking previous records to achieve better scores or times. This shows the progress and improvement of athletes over time.
