Atlantic history is the study of the history of people and events on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. This includes the continents of North and South America, Europe, the Caribbean, and West Africa. It usually looks at how those people, cultures, and events were connected and impacted each other in the time before the ocean became known as the "Atlantic." For example, it can look at how the people and goods being transported back and forth across the ocean changed life in all the different regions it connected.
