Attachment theory is like a special kind of connection that babies and young children have with their caretakers, like their mom or dad. When they feel safe and close to the caretaker it’s like a safe anchor that helps them explore and learn about the world. They need to trust that their caretaker is there for them and is a person they can rely on, so the person needs to respond to them and meet their needs. That way the child can find comfort and love, and can feel that the world is a safe place.
