ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Attractiveness principle

The attractiveness principle is a theory that suggests that when we look for someone attractive to be with, we are more likely to find them. It says that when we are drawn to someone physically, we are more likely to find a good personality match and a lasting relationship. For example, if you see someone you think is cute, you are likely to find that you and that person have similar interests and that you two will get along well. So, even if someone isn't your "type" based on physical features, if you find them attractive then it is likely that you and that person are compatible.
