ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

August Riedinger

August Riedinger was a person who lived a long time ago. He was a scientist who studied things called molecules and atoms.

Just like in a toy box, where you can find different kinds of toys like trucks, dolls, and balls, everything we see around us is made up of tiny things called molecules. These molecules are so small that they can only be seen with very special tools that scientists use.

August Riedinger wanted to know more about these molecules, so he studied how they move and how they are put together. He discovered that the way the molecules move and interact with each other can explain things that we see in our everyday lives, like why some things are solid and why some are liquid.

Riedinger was very smart and he wrote many books about his discoveries to help other scientists understand how molecules work. Today, scientists still use his ideas to learn about the world around us!
