Australian Aboriginal religion and mythology is a set of beliefs and stories that explain the ancient Aboriginal people's understanding of the world and their place in it. Aboriginal people believe that all living things are connected, as are the spirits and creatures of the land, sea and sky. Through dreaming stories, Aboriginal people tell the history of their people, and the spiritual power that exists in animals, plants, rivers and landscapes. Some stories explain how the world was created, and why certain things, like the sun and stars, are the way they are. Other stories explain how things came to be, like specific plants or animal dreaming stories.
