ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Automatic frequency control

Automatic frequency control (AFC) is like a magic wand that makes sure that the sound or radio waves we hear always stay at the same frequency, no matter what happens.

Imagine you are listening to a radio channel and suddenly there is a lot of noise or interference. This can make the frequency drift away from the intended channel, making the sound distorted or even disappear completely. AFC makes sure that this doesn't happen by automatically and quickly adjusting the frequency to stay on course.

Just like how you would adjust the steering wheel of a car to stay in the middle of the road, AFC adjusts the frequency to stay in the right place in the radio spectrum. It does this by constantly listening to the sound or radio waves and making small changes to the frequency until it's just right.

This way, we get to enjoy crystal clear sound and uninterrupted radio waves without having to worry about any interference or drift. It's pretty amazing how technology can help us stay connected and in tune with the world around us!
