Axial symmetry

Axial symmetry means that if we were to draw a straight line down the middle of an object, it would be the exact same on both sides. Imagine folding a piece of paper in half down the middle and seeing the same thing on both sides. This is what axial symmetry looks like. Some animals, like butterflies and starfish, have axial symmetry. Even our bodies have some axial symmetry, for example, our left and right arms and legs look alike. It's like having a mirror image of something on each side of the line. Axial symmetry is an important concept in shapes and design, and is used in a lot of art and architecture. It helps things look balanced and pleasing to look at.
