BACS

Bacs is a special way for people to move money from one bank account to another. It's like taking your piggy bank money to your friend's piggy bank without having to go to their house.

Here's how it works: let's say you want to pay for something online or send money to your friend. You might use a special bank service called Bacs. You would use your computer or phone to tell your bank that you want to send some money.

Your bank will then send a message to your friend's bank asking for the money to be moved from your bank account to your friend's bank account. Your friend's bank will check to make sure they have the right details and then move the money over.

It's all very clever and happens very quickly! The good thing about Bacs is that it's really safe and you don't have to carry around lots of cash or worry about cheques getting lost in the post.
