ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bacterivore

Okay, kiddo, so you know how there are a lot of little living things called bacteria that we can't see with our eyes? Well, some other living things, called bacterivores, eat those bacteria, like how you eat your food.

Bacterivores can be different things like tiny animals, bugs, or even some types of big animals like fish. They use different methods to catch and eat the bacteria. Sometimes they just swim around in the water, open their mouth, and catch the bacteria as they swim past. Other times, they have special little hands or tentacles that they use to grab the bacteria and eat them.

Now, it might not be as fun as eating your favorite food, but for these little guys, eating bacteria is what they need to stay alive and healthy. Plus, it's important to keep the number of bacteria in check, so bacterivores help to make sure they don't get out of control. Cool, huh?
