ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Baird's rule

Baird's rule is about colors and light that we see. When things make light, some colors of light have different amounts of energy. Baird's rule says that light with the least amount of energy will make things look different than light with more energy.

Think about a rainbow. The colors in a rainbow go from red to violet. Red light has the least energy and violet light has the most energy. When we see something like a plant or an apple, it reflects light that hits it. Our eyes can see that reflected light and we can tell what color the thing is.

So, if we shine red light on a plant, it might look different than if we shine violet light on it. This is because red light has less energy than violet light. Baird's rule helps us understand how colors of light can change the way things look.
