Balamuthia mandrillaris
Balamuthia mandrillaris is a very tiny little germ that can make people very sick. It's so small, you need a special microscope to see it!
This germ can get into our bodies if we breathe it in or if it gets in our nose or mouth. Once it's in our body, it can travel to our brain and cause problems.
When this germ is inside our body, it can cause a sickness called "granulomatous amoebic encephalitis." This is a big word, but it means that it can make our brain swell up and not work right. This can make us feel really sick and not be able to do things that we used to do.
