ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bank for International Settlements

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is like a bank for all the banks in different countries. It makes sure that all of the banks in the world are safe and secure and that they follow the same rules. For example, it makes sure that banks have enough money to pay people back when they borrow, and it makes sure that banks aren't taking too many risks or doing things that might hurt their customers. Being a member of the BIS is really important for banks because it means they can work together with other banks from all over the world.
