ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Basic intelligence

Hi there! Today we're going to talk about basic intelligence. Intelligence is when your brain knows and learns things. When you learn something new, like how to tie your shoes or how to write your name, your brain gets smarter and that's your intelligence growing.

Now, some people are really good at some things like math or reading, while others are good at things like sports or art. But just because someone is really good at one thing doesn't mean they're smarter than someone else who's good at something else.

Scientists measure intelligence using something called an IQ test. It's kind of like a game that asks you questions to see how many you can get right. The more questions you get right, the higher your IQ score is, which means you're very smart!

But remember, just because someone has a high IQ score doesn't mean they're better or more important than someone with a lower score. Everyone has different strengths and abilities, and that's what makes us all special.
