ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Battery (crime)

Okay kiddo, I'll explain what a battery crime is as simply as possible.

Do you know what a battery is? It's not the kind of battery you use in your toys or electronics. A battery is when someone touches or hits another person in a way that is harmful or offensive.

Now, if someone does this on purpose to hurt someone else, that's called a battery crime. It's against the law because we don't want people to hurt each other on purpose.

So imagine if someone hit you or hurt you on purpose for no reason. That would be very wrong and they could get in trouble for it. That's when we call it a battery crime.

It's important to remember to always be kind to others and not hurt them on purpose. And if someone does hurt you on purpose, you should tell a trusted adult right away.
