Battle of Tarbat
So, a long time ago in Scotland, there was a big fight called the Battle of Tarbat. It happened way back in the olden days when there were no big cities or cars or computers, just lots of people living in small villages and towns.
Now, in this particular battle, there were two groups of people who didn't like each other very much. They were the Picts and the Scots. The Picts were known for painting their bodies and lived in what is now known as Scotland, and the Scots were from another group of people who lived in what is now called Ireland but had come over to Scotland.
So, one day, the Picts and the Scots met up at a place called Tarbat. They both had lots of soldiers and weapons and were ready to fight. The reason for the fight is not really clear, but some stories say it was because the Scots were trying to take over the land that the Picts had been living on for a long time.
Anyway, the battle was really intense. Both sides were fighting hard, using swords and shields and all kinds of other weapons. It was really loud too, with lots of shouting and screaming and clanging of metal.
But eventually, the Picts came out on top. They managed to defeat the Scots and keep control of their land. It was a big victory for them and they were very happy about it.
