Battle of the Beanfield

Okay kiddo, so a long time ago, in 1985, there was a big fight between some travelers (people who live in caravans and move around a lot) and the police in England. The travelers wanted to go to a place called Stonehenge, which is a really old and important place with big stones that people go to see.

But the police didn't want them to go there, because they were worried they might damage the stones or cause a disruption. So, they blocked the way to Stonehenge and wouldn't let the travelers pass through.

The travelers got upset and a big fight broke out. The police used a lot of force, like hitting people with their batons and breaking up their homes (the caravans). It was a really scary and sad time for the travelers, and many of them got hurt or arrested.

This event became known as the Battle of the Beanfield, because this area where it happened was near a field where there were lots of beans growing.

It was a very controversial event, and some people thought the police used too much force, while others thought they were just doing their job to protect the ancient site. But either way, it was a big moment in history for both the travelers and the police.
