Bauer Pottery
Bauer Pottery is a place where people make special dishes and containers out of clay. Clay is a type of dirt that is very soft when it is wet, but when it dries it gets hard like a rock.
When people make pottery, they first take the wet clay and shape it into the design they want. This can be a cup, a bowl, or anything they can imagine. Then they let it dry for a little while, until it is not too wet to handle but not too dry that it will crack.
Once the clay has dried a little bit, they put it in a special oven, called a kiln, to bake it. The kiln is a really hot oven that makes the clay get even harder and it also changes the color of the glaze on the pottery. The glaze is like a shiny coating that makes the pottery look pretty and also makes it easier to clean.
After the pottery comes out of the kiln, it is ready to be used! People can use it to eat food or drink out of, or they can put things in it like flowers or pencils.
