Bayajidda (mythology)

Bayajidda is a special story that people used to tell long ago in West Africa. It is a famous legend about a strong and brave prince named Bayajidda. Now listen carefully, I will tell you the story of Bayajidda like you are five years old.

Once upon a time, there was a prince named Bayajidda, and he lived with his father, the king. One day, the king sent Bayajidda on a very important mission which was to defeat a very fierce and powerful serpent called Dodo. Dodo had been causing trouble and making it difficult for people to live in their lands. So the king wanted his son to defeat the serpent and save the people in that area.

Bayajidda was very brave and strong. He set out on his mission and went to the land of the serpent. There, he found out that Dodo had a daughter named Magira who was very beautiful. Bayajidda thought of a way to defeat the serpent without hurting it. He thought of marrying Magira, the daughter of Dodo. Magira agreed to the marriage proposal, and after they got married, she helped Bayajidda to defeat her father, the serpent.

Bayajidda and Magira returned to Bayajidda's father's kingdom, and they lived happily ever after. From then on, Bayajidda became very popular and well-known because he was so brave and strong. People told stories of how he defeated the powerful serpent without even fighting and how he married the beautiful Magira.

The story of Bayajidda has become a legend, and people still tell it today. It teaches us about bravery, kindness, and how sometimes you can defeat your enemies without fighting them.
