ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Beaivi

"Beaivi" is a word that means "sun" in the language of a group of people called the Sámi who live in northern parts of Europe like Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. It's a very important word to the Sámi because the sun is really important to them. In their traditional way of life, they would follow the sun's movements to decide when to go hunting or fishing or when to plant crops.

The Sámi people have been living in these parts of Europe for a really long time, way before other people started living there. And even back then, the sun was very important to them. It would help them know when to do important things like move around or rest, and it would also help them keep warm in the winter because they didn't have fancy heating like we do.

So when the Sámi people wanted to talk about the sun, they would use the word "beaivi". And even today, the word is still really important because it helps the Sámi people remember where they come from and what their traditions are.
