Bearded axe

Imagine you want to chop down a tree, but you don't have a big axe like lumberjacks do. Instead, you have a special kind of axe called a bearded axe.

The bearded axe has a funny name because it looks like it has a beard. The sharp part that does the chopping is called the blade, and that's where you swing the axe to chop the tree. But, the bearded axe has a part at the top that curves out like a beard. This part is called the "beard", and it helps when you need to do some other stuff with your axe.

The special thing about the bearded axe is that the beard helps you to use it for more than just chopping. You can use it to pry things open or to pull things apart. This is because the beard gives you extra leverage - kind of like how monkey bars give you extra help to swing from one bar to another.

So, when you need to chop a tree, you hold the axe by the handle and swing the blade at the tree. But, if you need to pry something open, you can use the beard to help you pull it apart. And, that's what makes a bearded axe a really handy tool to have around!
