ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bengal Subah

Dear little friend,

Bengal Subah was a place a long time ago where people lived in India. It was a very big place with lots of things in it like rivers, forests, and animals. The people who lived there were called Bengalis and they had their own customs, languages, and cultures.

The rulers of Bengal Subah were called Subahdars and they were appointed by the Mughal emperors who ruled over India. The Subahdars were in charge of making sure everyone followed the rules and kept everything safe.

The Bengalis were very talented people and they were known for their skills in farming, weaving, and art. They also had their own traditional dance forms like the Baul and the Chhau dance.

Bengal Subah was a very important place for trade and commerce as it had access to the Bay of Bengal which was a big sea. People from all over the world came to Bengal Subah to trade things like silk, spices, and tea.

However, over time, Bengal Subah went through many changes. It was divided into smaller states and eventually, it became what we know today as West Bengal and Bangladesh. But despite all these changes, the Bengali culture and traditions still remain strong in this region.

I hope this explanation helped you understand what Bengal Subah was like, my little friend!
