Berber calendar

The berber calendar is a way that a group of people from North Africa, called the Berbers, keep track of time. It is a special kind of calendar that is different from the one most people use around the world.

You know how you have a calendar at home that helps you know the date and day of the week? The berber calendar is kind of like that. But instead of having twelve months like our calendar, the berber calendar has thirteen months! Each month has 28 days, which is the same as four weeks of seven days each.

The Berbers have their own names for each of the months, and they often use the phases of the moon to help them know which month it is. For example, if the new moon appeared in a certain way, it would signal the start of a new month for the Berbers.

The berber calendar also has its own special way of counting years. Instead of using the year that we are all in right now (2021), they start their count from the year they believe their calendar was first created. This year is called "Aseggas Ameggaz" and it is the year 2971 in the Berber calendar!

Even though the berber calendar is not used as widely as other calendars around the world, it is an important way for the Berber people to keep track of time and celebrate important events throughout the year.
