ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Biblical Hebrew

Biblical Hebrew is a language that was used a long time ago by people who wrote down stories and rules in a book called the Bible.

Just like how you probably learned to read and write in school, people back then also had to learn how to read and write in a certain way to understand the Bible.

The letters and words in Biblical Hebrew look different from the letters and words in the language you speak today. It's kind of like learning a secret code!

When you read the Bible in Biblical Hebrew, some of the words might sound strange because they are old and aren't used anymore.

But even though it might be different from the English you know, some people still like to learn and study Biblical Hebrew so they can understand the Bible the way it was written a long, long time ago.
