Bicycle drum brake

A bicycle drum brake is a special kind of brake that helps you stop the bike when you need to. It works by squeezing two pads against a drum that's attached to the wheel. When you press on the brake lever with your hand or foot, it moves a cable that sticks out from the brake and pulls the pads toward the drum. This creates friction, which slows down the drum and the wheel.

Think of it like a teacher holding a paper between two fingers and stopping it by pressing them together. The drum brake does the same thing, but instead of fingers it uses pads, and instead of a paper, it stops the bike wheel.

The good thing about a drum brake is that it can work in different weather conditions. It can work even if it's wet or muddy outside because the drum and the pads are covered and protected from water and dirt.

The only thing that you need to do is to make sure that the drum and the pads are clean and not wearing out. That way, your bicycle drum brake will continue to work for a long time and help you stop safely when you need to.
