ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bicycle dynamo

A bicycle dynamo is a little machine that sits on the wheel of a bicycle and generates electricity as the wheel turns. This way, when you're riding your bike, the energy from your pedaling powers a small generator that creates electricity.

Here's how it works: when you start pedaling your bike, you're putting energy into the dynamo. The dynamo uses that energy to turn a small generator inside it. This generator creates electricity by using magnets and wires to create an electric current.

Once the electricity is created, it flows through wires that are connected to the dynamo and sends it to the lights on the bike, which light up brightly. This means that as long as you're pedaling your bike, your lights will stay on and you can see where you're going in the dark.

So the next time you see a bike riding down the street with bright lights on, you can know that it's thanks to a little machine called a dynamo that's helping to generate electricity from the power of pedaling.
