Bilboes

Bilboes are things that were used a long time ago to keep naughty people from running away. They are two heavy metal bands that are attached to each other with a long chain. The bands go around a person's ankles, so they can't go very far because they are tied up.

It's like when mommy and daddy hold your hand when you are in a big crowd so you don't wander off. In the olden days, bilboes were used on bad people who were being punished.

But don't worry, nowadays we don't use bilboes to punish people anymore. We have better ways to help them learn and grow.
