Bill 78

Okay kiddo, so there's something called a bill, which is basically a written proposal for a new law. And there’s a bill in Canada called Bill 78 that was proposed by the Quebec government.

You know how there are rules in your school and your mommy and daddy have rules at home? Well, the government makes rules for everyone in a society to follow, like how fast you can drive on the road or when you have to go to bed. The Quebec government made Bill 78 to create some new rules for the people in Quebec.

Now, Bill 78 was made during a time when there were many protests happening in Quebec, which is when a lot of people get together to show that they are unhappy about something. And because of this, Bill 78 is often called a protest law.

So, what does Bill 78 say? Well, it says that people who want to protest, like march or gather together, need to tell the police about it first. And if they don't tell the police, they can get in trouble. Bill 78 also says that the people who are organizing the protest need to make sure that it stays peaceful and doesn't cause any harm or damage to anyone or any property.

There were a lot of debates and discussions about whether Bill 78 was a good idea or not. Some people thought it was important to have rules to make sure protests stayed safe, while others thought it took away people's freedom to express themselves.

Now, the Bill 78 isn't in effect anymore. But it was an important moment in Quebec's history and it taught everyone about how we make rules in our society.
