ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bio-based material

Bio-based materials are materials that come from plants and animals. They are materials that have been used by people for thousands of years, and they are still used today. For example, cotton is a bio-based material used to make clothing. Wood is another bio-based material that has been used for thousands of years for making furniture and other items. Bio-based materials are renewable and sustainable, meaning they can be replaced easily and do not cause harm to the environment when used. Bio-based materials are also usually cheaper than using materials that come from oil or other non-renewable sources.
