ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bioelectrogenesis

Bioelectrogenesis is when living things create electricity. Just like a battery can make electricity, animals (including humans) and some plants can make electricity too.

The way animals make electricity is by having specialized cells called "electric organs" that produce electric charges. These electric charges can be used for lots of things, like communicating with other animals, finding food, and even defending against predators.

Electric eels, for example, have over 6000 electric cells in their bodies! They use this electricity to navigate and hunt, as well as to defend themselves against predators.

Plants can also create electricity through a process called "photosynthesis." During photosynthesis, plants use sunlight to create energy, and this energy can be turned into electricity using special devices.

Overall, bioelectrogenesis is a pretty amazing thing that allows living things to do all sorts of cool stuff!
