ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bioengineering

Bioengineering is a field where people use engineering skills to design and make physical things that help with health and medicine. These things could be tools or medicines that can help with things like disease, surgeries, or helping people with disabilities. For example, a bioengineer might design a prosthetic arm for someone who lost an arm in a car accident. They might also design a special medical device to help people with a certain type of heart condition. Bioengineers use different machines and materials to make these things, like computers and metal. They also use their knowledge of biology and science to understand how things work in the body to make sure the things they make will do what they're supposed to do.
