ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bioinspiration

Bioinspiration is when scientists look to nature for ideas about how to solve problems. For example, if a scientist wants to build a drone that does not need a lot of battery power, they might look at the way a bat can fly for long periods of time without needing to rest. They might study the bat's wings, the way it moves, and its body shape, and try to design a drone that can fly in a similar way and use less energy. In this way, they are inspired by nature to invent something new.
