Biophony

Biophony is a big word that means all the sounds made by living things, like animals and plants, in a particular place. You know how when you go outside, you can hear birds singing, crickets chirping or frogs croaking? Well, those are all sounds that make up the biophony.

If you live near the forest, you can also hear the wind blowing through the trees, leaves rustling, or even the sound of water flowing in a nearby river or stream. Those sounds are all part of the biophony too.

Each place on Earth has a unique biophony that is made up of the different sounds that living things make. Even the ocean and the desert have their own biophony.

Scientists use special equipment to record the sounds of biophony to learn more about the living things in that area, like what kinds of animals live there and how they communicate with each other. Isn't that cool?
