ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Birkat Hachama

Birkat Hachama is a special prayer that we say once every 28 years to thank God for creating the sun.

You know how the sun gives us light and warmth every day, right? Well, we want to show our thankfulness to God for making something so amazing that helps us live and grow on this earth.

So once every 28 years, when the sun is in the same exact spot in the sky as it was when it was created, we say a special prayer to God thanking Him for the sun. It's like a big birthday party for the sun!

During this special occasion, people wake up early in the morning to watch the sun rise and say the prayer together. It's a way for us to show our appreciation for one of God's most important creations.
