When a baby grows inside a woman's tummy for nine months, it's time for the baby to come out and be born. In Sri Lanka, there are special places called hospitals and clinics where this process can happen safely with the help of doctors and nurses.
When the mother goes into labor (which means she starts feeling contractions or pain in her belly), she goes to the hospital or clinic. There, she will be put in a room with special beds and equipment that will help her give birth.
Sometimes, the baby comes out through a natural process called vaginal birth, where the baby passes through the mother's vaginal opening. Other times, if there are complications or if the baby is too big, the doctors might do a C-section, which is a surgery where they make a cut in the mother's belly and take the baby out.
When the baby is born, the doctors will clean them, check their heartbeat and breathing, and make sure they are healthy. They will also weigh the baby and measure their length. The baby will be given an ID tag and will stay in the hospital for a few days so that they can be monitored and the mother can rest.
After the baby and mother leave the hospital, they will receive follow-up care and advice from doctors and nurses to make sure both of them stay healthy. And that's how babies are born in Sri Lanka!
