Bitplane

A bitplane is a collection of bits (ones and zeroes) that together represent a digital image. So if you have an image, it can be broken down into different parts, and each part is called a bitplane. Each bitplane contains information about what color each pixel should be. So together, all of the bitplanes make up the complete image.
