ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Blake–Poretsky law

Okay little one, have you ever heard of something called the Blake-Poretsky Law? No? Well, let me explain it to you in a way that will hopefully make sense to you.

So, first we need to understand what a law is. A law is a rule that everyone has to follow, kind of like when your parents say you have to go to bed at a certain time or you have to eat your vegetables before you can have dessert.

The Blake-Poretsky Law is a law that says that doctors cannot discriminate against patients based on their gender or sexual orientation. This means that doctors have to give the same quality of care to all patients, regardless of if they are a man, woman, gay, straight, or anything in between.

Why is this law important? Well, it is important because everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with respect. Imagine if you went to the doctor and they treated you differently just because you are a girl or a boy, or because of who you love. That wouldn't be fair, would it?

So the Blake-Poretsky Law helps to make sure that everyone gets treated the same way when they go to the doctor. It's like a reminder to doctors that they have to be nice to everyone, no matter what.

Does that make sense? If you have any more questions, just let me know!
