ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bleeding-heart libertarianism

Bleeding-heart libertarians are people who believe in individual freedom, but also care about social justice. They think everyone should have the same basic rights and freedoms – like the right to vote and the right to earn a living wage – without any discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, or any other factor. They are willing to accept some government regulation to protect these rights, but want to limit the government’s power in other areas, so that people can live their lives without government interference. In other words, they want freedom without sacrificing justice.
