ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Blindspots analysis

Have you ever played hide and seek before? Let's pretend that you are playing hide and seek with your friends, and you are trying to hide behind a big tree. The tree is so big that you can't see everything around it, like what's behind the tree. That spot where you can't see anything is called a "blind spot."

Now, let's imagine that you're driving a car. Just like when you were playing hide and seek, there are spots around your car that you can't see, even if you turn your head. These are called "blind spots." Blind spots are the areas around your car that you can't see when you look in the mirrors.

It's important to know where your blind spots are when you're driving so that you don't accidentally hit something or someone. To figure out where your blind spots are, you can do a "blind spot analysis." You can start by sitting in the driver's seat and adjusting your mirrors so that they show as much of the area around your car as possible. Then, you can ask a friend or family member to stand next to your car and slowly walk around it while you keep your eyes on them. Notice where they disappear from your view, and that's where your blind spots are.

Now you know where your blind spots are, and you can be extra careful when changing lanes or making turns to make sure that you're not going to hit anything or anyone that you can't see in your mirrors. And that's how you do a blind spot analysis!
