Blood diamonds come from places where there are wars or fighting going on. Bad people use these diamonds to buy guns and weapons to keep fighting, and they do not care about the safety of people or animals. Sometimes, people are even forced to work in the diamond mines and they can get hurt or sick. That's not good, right?
To stop this from happening, people made a list of rules called the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. This is like a big rule book that everybody who sells diamonds has to follow. They need to make sure that the diamonds they sell are not from places where bad things happen and that nobody was hurt while mining them.
