The Blue Brain Project is a project to create a computer simulation (or "digital copy") of the human brain. The project is being done by scientists who want to better understand how our brains work. They want to work out what different kinds of chemicals, signals, and processes in the brain cause us to think or to feel, or even move around. They also want to know what goes wrong in people's brains who have diseases like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's. To do this, they use powerful computers to create a perfect digital model of a real human brain. They then measure and map the brain's activity and learn how different parts of the brain work together. It is like taking a 3D copy of a brain and using computers to study it.
