Ok kiddo, have you heard of the colors red, green, and blue before? They are some of the most important colors we use to see different things in the world around us. Our eyes have special cells called cones that help us see these colors. Think of them like tiny helpers that tell our brain what color we are seeing.
Now, some people might have a special condition called blue cone monochromacy (BCM for short). This means that they only have one type of cone that helps them see color, and it’s the blue one. So even though they might look at a red apple, their brain will only see shades of blue.
It’s like if you had a set of crayons but you lost the red and green ones, so all you had was the blue crayon to draw with. You could still draw some pretty cool things with just the blue color, but you wouldn’t be able to draw things that had shades of red or green in them.
People with BCM might have trouble seeing colors in the same way as other people, and might need special glasses or lenses to help them see more clearly. But it’s also important to remember that everyone sees the world differently, and that’s what makes it so interesting and fun to explore!
