Bogdanov Affair

The Bogdanov affair was a scientific controversy beginning in 2002, involving two French twin brothers, Igor and Grichka Bogdanov, who were both physicists, and claiming to have completed doctoral degrees in theoretical physics. They published a number of papers on topics such as astrophysics and string theory, but other scientists and researchers soon noticed that some of these papers contained plagiarism (using other people's work without giving them credit) and incorrect information. This caused other scientists to look more closely at the brothers' work and they found that their degrees were actually fake, and that they had lied in their research papers. As a result, they were expelled from the scientific community and are now not allowed to publish any more scientific works.
