Bokononism is a fictional religion created by author Kurt Vonnegut. It is made up of things called 'calypsos' which are stories, poems, and songs that are used to help people make sense of life. Bokononists believe that life is unpredictable and confusing so the calypsos can help people find meaning in their lives. The main part of the religion is called 'foma', which are lies that actually help people feel better. So even though Bokononism isn't a real religion, the ideas it contains can help people make sense of life.
