Bombing of Tokyo (10 March 1945)

Okay, so a long, long time ago, during a really big war called World War II, there were two countries who were fighting against each other. One of the countries was called Japan, and the other country was called the United States of America.

In March of 1945, the United States decided to do a big attack on Tokyo, which is the capital city of Japan. They did this by sending a bunch of airplanes over the city, and having them drop a lot of bombs. This is called a "bombing" because it's when you drop a lot of bombs on a place to try and hurt the people or damage the buildings.

The bombing of Tokyo was a really big deal because it was one of the most destructive air raids in all of history. It caused a lot of damage and destruction to the city, and hundreds of thousands of people were killed or injured.

Some people say that the bombing was necessary because it helped to end the war faster. But other people think that it was wrong to intentionally hurt so many innocent people. It's a really sad thing to think about, and we should remember it so that we can try to make sure something like that never happens again.
