Boxing Day

Boxing Day, also known as St. Stephen's Day, is a holiday celebrated in many countries on December 26th. It is not the day people go out and box each other like in a fight, but rather it has to do with giving gifts to people who are in need.

A long time ago, rich English people would give boxes filled with food and money to their staff and other people who were poor or had helped them throughout the year on the day after Christmas. They called this day "Boxing Day" because of the boxes they gave away.

Nowadays, people don't usually give boxes anymore, but the tradition of giving to those in need still continues. In some countries, there are big sales and people go shopping to buy things they want at discounted prices, but it is still a day to remember giving to others.

So, Boxing Day is a time to remember the importance of giving, sharing, and helping others less fortunate than ourselves.
