Brahmacharya

Brahmacharya is a big word that means "acting in such a way that we don't let our desires control us." Imagine you really want a candy bar, but your parent says "no" because it's close to dinner time. If you throw a tantrum, cry and scream, you are letting your desire for the candy control you. If you accept that you can't have the candy now and wait patiently, then you are practicing brahmacharya. It's similar to taking a deep breath and counting to ten, instead of getting upset. Practicing brahmacharya helps us make good choices and keep our minds calm and focused.
