Breaking capacity

Breaking capacity is all about how much electricity a breaker can stop from flowing when something goes wrong in your house or at work. Think of it like being able to stop the flow of water from a hose when you turn it off.

When electricity flows through a wire or cable, it creates heat. Sometimes this heat can build up and cause the wire to get really hot or even catch on fire. To prevent this from happening, we use breakers.

A breaker is like a switch that can turn off the flow of electricity if there is too much heat or if there is a short circuit (when two wires touch each other that aren't supposed to).

The breaking capacity is how much electricity the breaker can stop from flowing when it turns off. Just like you could turn off a small hose with your hand, but you would need a lot more help to turn off a big fire hose, different breakers can handle different amounts of electricity.

So when someone talks about the breaking capacity of a breaker, they are really talking about how much electricity it can handle before it needs to turn off to protect you and your home or workplace from potential danger.
